Amazing views, the service was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the RMT's and Nail Tech's were fantastic! The meals that we had at the restaurant were delicious as well. All around it was a wonderful weekend away, we would highly recommend Christie's Mill Inn and Spa. Karen TurnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a corporate event for 15 people at Christie's Mill Inn & Spa, and the entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. The hotel rooms were lovely, very clean, with comfortable beds, fireplaces and jetted tubs. What truly stood out, though, was the level of care and attention from the staff. Everyone went out of their way to ensure our group was well taken care of throughout our stay. The chef was interactive and engaging with our group, and the food was absolutely fabulous. On Thursday evening, there was a guitarist/singer performing in the restaurant, which added such a enjoyable atmosphere with the beautiful lake view. The staff consistently went above and beyond for us. They lit the fire to heat the sauna, prepared the beach campfire for our group, and even made sure the ice machine stayed fully stocked for our evening get-together. Their hospitality and attention to detail deserve so much praise. Such an incredible team. The setting itself was beautiful, with stunning waterfront views, a beachfront lined with granite rock, and clean sandy areas. Everything about the property felt relaxing and welcoming. I highly recommend Christie's Mill Inn & Spa for a personal getaway or especially for a corporate event. They will take care of you!Google rating score: 4.0 of 5, based on 471 reviews
EXCELLENT Based on 333 reviews Posted on Expedia Jacques-MathieuVerified Excellent servicePosted on Expedia RogerVerified The pool area has mold, cobwebs, dehumidifiers caked with mold, pool floor needs cleaning, ceilings are moisture damaged and walls are peeling due to humidity/water damage. Everything seems to rattle, could hear people in the hall and doors slamming all the time. Bed tilted while sitting on the edge. Lots of upgrading needed Has potential but it is definitely not there. ☺Staff & service ☹Cleanliness, property conditions & facilitiesPosted on Expedia RichardVerified I would encourage you to make sure you are in the right room and near the right amenities. Our room was on the bottom level at the back near the lake. The room was aged. Pulls and holes in the bedding. ? Black mild in bathroom grout. Difficulty getting tv to work. Cigarette smoke and weed smoke infiltrating our room overnight. And when the people came in in the room above us… we definitely heard every footstep. ☹Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilitiesPosted on Expedia DomenicVerified No pool. AVERAGE Based on 36 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Explore710385Verified Fabulous hotel with incredible staff! We recently hosted a corporate event for 15 people at Christie's Mill Inn & Spa, and the entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. We had the upgraded hotel rooms which were very clean, with comfortable beds, fireplaces and jetted tubs. What truly stood out was the level of care and attention from the staff. Everyone went out of their way to ensure our group was well taken care of throughout our stay. So friendly and kind. The chef was a STAR, he was interactive and engaging with our group, and the food was absolutely fabulous. On Thursday evening, there was even a guitarist/singer performing in the restaurant, which we sang along with and enjoyed. The Christie's Mill team consistently went above and beyond for us. They lit the fire to heat the sauna, prepared the beach campfire for our group, and even made sure the ice machine stayed fully stocked for our evening get-together. Their hospitality and attention to detail deserve so much praise. The setting itself is beautiful, with stunning waterfront views, a beachfront lined with granite rock, and clean sandy areas and docks. Everything about the property felt welcoming. I highly recommend Christie's Mill Inn & Spa for a personal getaway or especially for a corporate event. Bravo!Posted on Tripadvisor Howard ZVerified Nice Resort and Nice People We stayed there with our dog. They kindly offered free upgrade to signature room. We almost enjoyed the whole resort exclusively. But the service is no compromising, especially for the breakfast. We love it there and expect to have chances to get back in the summer. Thanks a lot.Posted on Tripadvisor Penner246Verified Keep driving!! Where do I start. The room I viewed online didn’t look anything like the room I checked in to. I was a lone female traveling on my own and there was no secondary or locking system to the door. So anyone with a key card could come in my room. I couldn’t stay there by myself…. The spa. I had a body wrap and a facial booked for the afternoon. The body wrap started with just the putting on of the scrub and no scrub and no exfoliation. Just lathered it on and wrapped me in plastic. I’ve done lots of spas and body wraps before and I can’t fathom what was even taking place. The person proceeded to start rubbing my head with one hand for about 10 minutes and that was about the time i said I’m not sure what’s happening right now but that part of my head is starting to get a little sore from just being rubbed in one spot. She proceeded to use her other hand and started rubbing the same area again. I’m not certain where her other hand was?? I knew I had to leave this place. I thought the beginning of the spa experience was a joke, I had to be being punked or something. I was terribly upset with this experience by the time I’d left this place. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here, this isn’t a spa that holds any accountability. A small child could have gave me a scalp massage better. I was so confused.Posted on Tripadvisor D HVerified Problems with room at Christie’s Mill Problems with the room at Christie’s Mill The staff at Christie’s Mill were very friendly and helpful. We had a meal in the restaurant on Thursday evening and the shepherds pie was exceptional. The entertainment was also very good. There were a number of problems with our room. The stairs leading up to the room were very dirty. The room was very small and dated, We had difficulty finding an area large enough to open our suitcase and leave it open. The Wi-Fi did not work most of the time, and when it did work, it was unbelievably slow The remote control for the TV was incredibly sticky. The housekeeping lady tried to clean it, but it didn’t work. We tried to wipe it off with a tissue and the tissue stuck to it which made it more pleasant to use and we left it that way. There was a large sign on the door to the swimming pool from the Board of Health saying the pool was closed. The staff told us it was OK to use the hot tub, but we were reluctant to use it. When we discussed this with other guests, like us, they would not use it.Posted on Tripadvisor greig bVerified Did Hitchcock stay? We are over from the UK. We have visited Christie Mill before as we have family at Oak Bay. But never stayed at the hotel. Unfortunately the rels had no room and so we booked two rooms for two nights. Casey, at the desk, checked us in charmingly and efficiently. The ground floor of the hotel seemed pretty nice, but the upstairs corridors were very depressing as were the bedrooms. Torn curtains( had Alfred Hitchcock stayed?) , dull decor, torn screen, door to communal balcony didn't lock. A piece of wood provided, too short for the job! But, with trepidation, we went to dinner. Wow! Really good, great service. Breakfast good too. But overall, not too good. Wouldn't go back.Posted on Tripadvisor Christine PVerified Go for the lake and the break; NOT for a premium Inn & Spa experience. Select lake-view room with balcony and you’ll get two chairs outside your door on the second floor where ALL GUESTS have access! So if you want to lay in bed and enjoy the view, the other guests also get a good view of you! They are uncomfortable as are you. Rooms are TINY and rundown. Mold on bathroom wall by baseboard. Television is cable only so very limited. No kleenex box in the room. Had leftovers from restaurant but no microwave. Watched two different tables complain/return their food last night. I had the beef tip penne and it was actually very good though the portion would seem small to some. I also had “the last butter tart” that was dry and tasted stale (and possibly store bought. The most disappointing was breakfast. The “omlette” by most standards was nothing more than a thin crepe like circle (one egg) folded over with possibly two tablespoons of ham, red pepper and red onions cut fine. No cheese so the tiny ingredients kept falling out making it difficult to eat. It came with about 1/2 cup of hashbrowns so definitely not worth the money. I gave up and stopped eating it halfway through. There is a $25 a day “amenities” fee. The pool room looked dark & uninviting, pool was small and not sure it was clean as it was hard to see; and we had no interest in a paddle boat or canoe in the hot sun & wind…so the $50 was hard to take. There are very little things to do in the area, but that’s no fault of the inn. On a plus side, the lake view was pretty and the staff were lovely. The bed was VERY comfortable. We booked through Expedia so we think there may be nicer units on the other side of the inn but not sure. We were also beside a public door so people were going in and out all the time so it was noisy with little privacy. There is no elevator so the big old stairway is daunting. Thankfully the owner (?) carried my bags up for me so I was very grateful. I wish I could give a higher review just based on the staff as they were exceptional, but overall, this was disappointing for an anniversary weekend.Posted on Tripadvisor Kate KVerified Not great! We booked the signature wing and unfortunately it was not great! The WiFi was terrible, the water was tepid and on the second night there was no hot water. The toilet broke and we were told this was most likely a user error, however we are not spring chickens and have had a lot of experience in flushing toilets!!! The romantic fireplace looked more like a couple of Bic lighters! We decided to treat ourselves to a couple of spa treatments in the hotel spa and these were just mediocre. And not sure what was going on with the relaxing spa music - it started off ok but then kept changing and at one point we were subjected to terrible angry piano music. And then there was dinner - the main course was fine but for my birthday dessert, which was a kind gesture from the restaurant …but it was a store bought brownie with stale mini marshmallows and chocolate chips thrown over it and topped off with chocolate sauce. The hotel did give us a $50 rebate for the water and toilet situation but it was sadly not the best experiencePosted on Tripadvisor sportsmomLondonVerified Doesn't live up to an expectation of a luxury inn We stayed for two nights for a wedding. Our room was a king signature patio lakeview. The bed was large and comfortable. Bathroom was also a large size however the toilet paper was cheap and the shower took a while to get warm. The faucet for it was confusing to turn on. We were only given two bath towels for a 2 night stay...little stingy..had to request them as no room service without requesting it. We went for breakfast this morning and as we past the kitchen door we could hear the conversation between two staff members...one of them dropped the F bomb several times...they even saw us passing and did not apologize for the language used. This is not acceptable, especially when this mill boasts as high end luxury. Considering the high cost of the room $370/night this hotel was overpriced.Posted on Tripadvisor SmoltmanVerified Okay room at the Inn We stayed one night at this Inn and it was okay. Clean room and a recently upgraded bathroom ( looked new). The bed was not the best for us - too soft for our liking. More of a personal issue perhaps. The breakfast we had was good and the service was excellent. Brooke L looked after us very well. Lots on the menu and very reasonable prices. My wife had 2 poached eggs on toast and I had the Mill breakfast. Over all not a bad stay.Posted on Tripadvisor Corey MVerified Uninvited guest I stayed at the Best Western Christie Mills and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. Check-in was smooth, and the room was initially fine. Dinner was average—the potato dauphinoise was decent, but the vegetables were undercooked, and the meat was far too well-done for my taste (I prefer rare). Breakfast the next day was better—I skipped the cold buffet and ordered a breakfast sandwich with fresh potatoes, which was surprisingly good. The real issue came at 4 a.m., when I woke up and found a bed bug crawling across the bed. I immediately called the front desk, and to their credit, the night staff responded quickly by moving me to another room and providing bags for my belongings. However, the new room was significantly smaller, and no rate adjustment was offered—even after I asked at checkout. I also had to pay out of pocket to have my clothes and bags professionally cleaned (around $100), because I didn’t want to risk bringing anything home to my dogs. To top it all off, this happened on my birthday. The night staff was helpful and kind, but I was disappointed by the dismissive attitude of the morning team. I had a clear photo of the bed bug, and it was confirmed. I won’t be staying here again. This experience left me tired, frustrated, and out of pocket.
